How do we remove the beampocket from the form?
The BP SERIES BEAM POCKET stays in the concrete. The top cap and reinforcement shelf are removed after the pour. The rest of the BEAMPOCKET stays in place.
How long do I wait to receive the BEAMPOCKETS??
Most packages are sent via fedex ground and usually arrive with four to six days
Do the anchors go into the concrete or the grout?
They go thruough the grout and about 12 inches into the concrete
Have they been reviewed by a PE ?
Peter , one of the inventors is a licensed structural engineer with over 40 years experience.
Refer to the TECH page for a stamped drawings with the axial and vertical loads.
Does the clamp down affect the thermal expansion / contraction?
Yes The clamp down as indicated in the instruction book is just finger tightened. The clamp is loosely tightened to allow expansion movement. No pull out
forces are calculated through the beam pocket. The floor structure above the beam pocket should be connected and calculated to handle those loads.
The BP SERIES BEAM POCKET is designed to handle vertical gravational loads. In comparsion embed plates rely on shear strenght of the
anchor studs and the pullout strenght of those studs.
Why should the bearing plate need to be adjustable?
The bearing plate and the clamp hold downs allow to imperfections in the placement of the beam and can be adjusted- both in height and lateral and axial distances.
As we all know the quality of work and the number of skilled craftsmen has deceased over the last few decades. Yes if a bearing plate could be
placed perfectly with anchor bolts to remain perfectly aligned, and if the formwork and braces dont ever move, then this would be less needed. Concrete coming out of a pumper at a minimun pressure of 300-400 psf can
deflect concrete form panels and bracing easily 1/4-1/2 inch. Such variation can require redrilling holes or relolcating anchors.
What about welding?
ICBO current codes now require a certified weld inspection for on-site welds-- at a cost of $50-100 each. BP SERIIES BEAMPOCKET does NOT require welds.
Why are the loads less with the void pocket compared to the BP BEAMPOCKET?
The BEAM POCKETS diffuses or distributes its' load into the bearing plate, then through the grout and then into the steel angle then into the concrete.
The standard void beam pocket transfers its' load from the bottom flange into tapered grout (or straight grout) then into the concrete.
The vertical load is controlled by the width of the load which is controlled by the width of the bottom flange of the beam. So the
load from BP SERIES BEAM POCKET is transferred into a much larger area.
Why are times so low?
The time to assemble the BP SERIES BEAM POCKET was actually much faster than the video. We asked our guy to slow down
to make it more realistic. The time to install the BEAMPOCKET was actually less than 5 minutes - ( The five minutes
included lifting the assembled BEAMPOCKET up a 12 ft ladder (remember only 32 pounds) - then held in place and clamped to the formwork-
Drilling the six screws into the flanges and then climbing up one more step to look inside the formwork to verify the flanges had been screwed properly. )
But we listed the installation at 15 minutes.
